Cultivating a Spirit of Forgiveness

Forgiveness can be a tricky topic. We all want to be forgiven, but we also want to be able to judge which offenses are unforgivable. Just as nothing is impossible to God, nothing is unforgivable. The repentant perpetrator of a violent crime can spend eternity in God's presence with the innocent victim of that same crime. It doesn't seem fair. But how do we know what's fair? 
 
This presentation can be shortened to half an hour, but it is better handled as a study topic for a  full morning or afternoon teaching session.

How to Wear a Garment of Praise When Your Life Is Rags and Tatters

Job was a righteous man, but that didn't keep spiritual forces from coming against him in a barrage of losses. Being a Christian doesn't mean that our lives will be all roses and fine chocolate.
 
In the wake of family tragedy, the comments Judith heard most often were "you're so strong" or  "I don't see how you do it." It isn't that she's so strong. It's just that she knows where to lean, and that makes her look strong to the outside world.
 
This one or two day retreat will help your group grow in strength in the Lord. It will give them the resources to wear that garment of praise no matter the circumstances.
